Top Bets For The Meadows Saturday Night

LAST start group 1 runner-up the talented Dusty Bourbski headlines a high quality Free For All field at The Meadows on Saturday night.

LAST start group 1 runner-up Dusty Bourbski headlines a high quality Free For All at the Meadows on Saturday night.

Finishing just a length and a quarter behind Australia's premier sprinter Wow She's Fast in last Saturday's group 1 Maturity Classic, the nine-time race winner will need to repeat that performance to figure in the finish after drawing box 8 in the 525m event.

Favourite for the race is 2021 Brisbane Cup winner Equalizer fresh off running fifth in the 2022 edition of the group 1 final. Despite his lack of early speed, Equalizer has consistently shown he is one of the fastest sprinters in the country and has built an imposing record at the Meadows, having won nine of 16 starts over the distance and win would take his career earnings to $495,000.

Expect the early speed to come from the inside boxes, with Indy Honey (box 1) and Carry On Angel (2) drawn to be prominent through the first turn. They should provide clear running for Jepara from box 3 and give him every opportunity to win his third Free For All in his last four starts.

At around $4 he looks the value play.

The first of 12 races will jump at 6.37pm.

BEST: race 2, box 4 – El Dorado

NEXT BEST: race 7, box 2 – Shanlyn Hunter

VALUE: race 8, box 3 – Jepara

QUADDIE: 1236 / 123 / 23 / 12348 = 41% for $50
