Top Bets Wentworth Park Saturday, May 1

TOP night of racing with heats of the Group 3 Ladies Bracelet for the girls, Group 3 Bob Payne Sprint for the boys and Group 3 Gold Cup for the stayers. 

There's some terrific value on offer during the night with just the one odds-on favourite, that being dual Group 1 winner Stanley Road in race five, heat one of the Gold Cup.

Race 2 Number 1 – VICKI'S QUEEN – $2.60

Two-time Group 1 finalist at Wentworth Park which has box one back in her own sex. Makes for good reading and as a 7-time city winner expecting her to be mighty hard to beat. Box one is a big plus providing she uses it – does race off the fence so can't afford to get cluttered up early.

Race 4 Number 6 – ASTON ZODIAC – $4.40

Ladies Bracelet with a stack of early speed – whips will be cracking early. Suspect whatever leads so I'm with the classy Aston Zodiac. Almost unleadable when she steps cleanly so pay no real notice of box six. Loves WPK and brings great credentials into this. Representing good value.

Race 6 Number 7 – PRIM AND PROPER – $2.20

We tipped her last week and she got nutted right on the line – Again! The smaller fields don't suit her given there's not as much hustle and bustle behind her and while tonight is just the field of six think she sneaks away with it. Ran a career best 42.09 last week and can see that being enough tonight out in front.

Race 7 Number 3 – ZIPPING KYRGIOS – $3.10

His Maitland Cup heat run was out of this world before finishing beaten fifth (2 ½ lengths) in final. Two turns is definitely his go and his record in town – with the 7 wins and a 29.37 PB – his first rate. Can see him sitting just off a hot speed here before powering home over the top late. Really keen on his prospects.

Race 3 Number 1 JUNK FOOD JUNKIE – $4.60

Nine box one starts and yet to strike a winning blow despite winning 16 races. Classy Victorian bitch which finished fourth in the Geelong Cup last start. Has had the five WPK runs for just the one second but went through those runs and they are better than what they might appear on paper. Right in the mix here and getting out to good value.
