Topgun Winner Spearheads Shootout Field

NINE entries have been whittled down to four to contest Thursday night's Group 3 Shootout (515m) at Sandown Park.

A total of nine nominations were received for the four-dog group 3 invitational where the winner will take home a tidy $25,000.

Leading the nominations was Topgun winner Shima Shine while other hopefuls included Catch The Thief, Tiggerlong Tonk, Christo Bale, Hard Style Rico, Weblec Ace, Zipping Zeek, Dr. Tucker and Zipping Bram.

Left with the arduous task of deciding the final four was a selection panel comprising members of both the Sandown Greyhound Racing Club (SGRC) and Greyhound Racing Victoria (GRV).

“It's always an extremely difficult process,” said SGRC media manager Mick Floyd.

“When you line the form up of all the nominations the four that we've selected really did stand out. We're looking forward to another cracking edition of the race.”

Following lengthy deliberations on Monday morning it was decided that the final four to contest the Shootout for 2020 is;

3. Hard Style Rico
5. Tiggerlong Tonk
7. Shima Shine

9. Catch The Thief
10. Dr. Tucker

One of the more interesting nominations for the four-dog Shootout was the Jason Thompson-trained Zipping Bram which trialled in a mind boggling 28.92 at Sandown Park on Sunday afternoon.
