Turbo Thomas Makes It 12 Straight At Maitland

TRENT Anderson has lauded the efforts of Jason Mackay after Turbo Thomas made it 12 straight wins with a near record Maitland victory on Thursday.

TRENT Anderson has lauded the efforts of trainer Jason Mackay after his crack sprinter Turbo Thomas extended his record to 12 wins from 13 starts with an electrifying 21.96 Maitland victory on Thursday.

"Jason's done a brilliant job with him," declared Turbo Thomas' proud owner-breeder Trent Anderson on Friday.

A son of Collision and Anderson's former top sprinter No Diggity, Turbo Thomas' only defeat was on debut at Richmond in May, finishing an unlucky second before moving to Mackay's Richmond Vale kennels.

From there the prodigious talent hasn't looked back, winning each of his 12 starts for NSW's number one conditioner.

"Peter Sims broke him in for me – he went 18.80 odd at Temora as a pup so he's always shown a lot of ability," Anderson said.

"His brother actually broke in faster but hurt himself and never raced which was disappointing. When I started trialling Turbo Thomas he just kept improving each time I put him around.

"His best sections are his first and second which is what you want – not many dogs win 12 races in their career let alone 12 in a row."

Posting a record first split of 5.18 in Thursday afternoon's blistering 21.96 Maitland success, Turbo Thomas went within one and a half lengths of Precious Sal's 21.87 track record in a powerhouse display of sustained speed.

"Jason knows the dog inside out now and is doing a great job placing him," Anderson added.

"He's manufactured him into running 500 metres and he's getting stronger as well.

"I had some pretty big offers for the dog after his 22.46 Richmond performance trial but I decided to hang onto him when Jason was keen to give him a go.

"With his speed he's a chance of pinching a good race along the way I think."

With Turbo Thomas flying the flag admirably for dam No Diggity, Anderson added that he's upbeat about her second litter to Fernando Bale while she's just been served a third time to Kinloch Brae.

"Jason's got one of the Fernando Bale pups and is happy with how it's going," added Anderson.

"I think she's in pup to Kinloch Brae but it's a bit early to be sure."
