Whiskey Riot Begins Million Dollar Quest

THE fields have been released for Saturday night's eight heats of the Group 1 Australian Cup at The Meadows along with three heats of the Super Stayers.

WHISKEY Riot begins his quest to become the sixth million dollar greyhound when he takes his place in Saturday night's Australian Cup heats at The Meadows.

The son of Fernando Bale goes into the weekend's heats sitting on $740,000 in stake earnings, $100,000 of that added last Saturday night following his stirring Group 1 Temlee triumph.

With $300,000 awaiting Saturday week's Australian Cup winner, that, along with this week's $10,000 first prize for winning his heat, would take the Melbourne Cup hero to seven figures in stakes, joining his older half-sister Mystic Riot in the exclusive million dollar club.

Whiskey Riot is joined in Saturday night's heats by his litter-mate Caishen, winner of the Group 2 Launceston Cup on Monday night for Anthony Azzopardi.

Saturday night's qualifiers also sees the return of Shima Shine, the boom son of Barcia Bale tackling the second heat from the prized rails alley.

On the stayers front, the appearance of hugely talented NSW chaser Zipping Truvy in heat three of the Fanta Bale Super Stayers is one of the major attractions.

Trained by Rob Tyler, the daughter of Zulu Zeus has always given the indication she'll lap up the half-mile journey, with Saturday night's outing her first try at the journey.
