Whiskey Riot Youngsters Stepping Out In Force

ANTHONY Azzopardi heads to Ballarat on Wednesday with a couple of Whiskey Riot pups confident they can show their sire in the highest light.

ANTHONY Azzopardi heads off to Ballarat on Wednesday night with a couple of talented Whiskey Riot pups confident they can show their sire in the highest light.

He has Shot Of Red (Whiskey Riot-Myrniong Lana) drawn box two in a graded final and Salad Dodger (Whiskey Riot-Winsome Sandy) in the five in the same final.

FIELDS AND FORM BALLARAT WEDNESDAY NIGHT

“They are both nice dogs by Whiskey Riot,” said Anthony of his former champion race dog, winner of the Group 1 Melbourne Cup and Temlee in 22 wins for $812,000 in stakes.

“Shot Of Red ran 25.16 to win a maiden on Warrnambool Cup heat night and would have made the Cup final off that time.

“He is a pretty promising youngster and very speedy.

“Salad Dodger is a different type with plenty of ability too and is already looking for 500 metres.”

Salad Dodger has won twice at Ballarat already.

“I've been approached to take on a few Whiskey pups from a couple of litters and the wraps on them are huge,” said Anthony.

He is also buoyed by the success of the progeny of his multiple Group 1 winner Raw Ability.

“Isn't that pup of Mick Patterson's a super youngster,” said Anthony of Respectability which brilliantly won the Listed Grafton Cup on Sunday night.

“Raw Ability has already sired a track record breaker, a Group winner and now that pup of Mick's whose future is huge.”

Respectability had only won a maiden four runs earlier before taking on a field of sprint stars and winning the Grafton Cup.

“Raw Ability's daughter Diamond Ability recently went 29.40 around The Gardens and she's a special going to Wenty soon,” said Anthony.
