Part-owner, trainer Corey Mutton made these plans after Jimmy The Singer (Fabregas-Pennybacker) showed blistering early pace to lead through a 9.76 first section to set up his victory over Hara's River and Adulate.

“I knew as soon as he drew the rails he could win,” said Corey who shares ownership with Leeds (UK) based Irishman Tony McGrath.

Jimmy The Singer has now won 12 of his 31 starts for stakes of $78,000 and he is part of a smart litter that also includes multiple Group finalist De Ferran which McGrath also owns in partnership with Darren Leeson.

“Jimmy could break 30 seconds for 520 metres but never in a race,” said Corey. “But, his early pace was always going to be his plus over 600.

“The first time I trialled him over the distance he ran a first section of 9.85.

“He's such a determined dog and really is just coming to the fore.

“He has to be given his chance next week in the Carnival Chase heats.”

McGrath and Mutton now have 20 dogs in their partnership ranging from pups to just educated youngsters and race dogs.

“Tony came out for three months staying with me at the Gold Coast over Christmas,” said Corey.

“He loves his dogs and never misses watching them race.

“But, he's so keen to come here to live and be more involved.”

TRACK record holder, Jay Is Jay utilised his perfect rails draw to lead throughout to win the QGOLD Winter Sprint in a flying 29.64 as the $1.40 favourite.

The son of Sennachie-Kealoah scored by an ever-increasing six and a half lengths over Mr Springtime and Tomahawk Hayze.

It was his 10th win in 23 starts for $218,000.

It added to his G2 Qld Derby and G3 Golden Sands victories.

Michael and Selena Zammit will keep him ticking over on route to the State Of Origin series and the obvious target the G1 Brisbane Cup late in June.
