Young Star Beckons For G2 All Stars Winner

WEST On Boonie will be set for the upcoming Young Stars series at Cannington after his performance in the Group 2 All Stars Sprint (520m).

WEST On Boonie, and his littermate King Tommy, will be set for the upcoming Young Stars series at Cannington after their performance in Saturday night's Group 2 All Stars Sprint (520m).

West On Boonie (Tommy Shelby-West On Violet) led throughout to win the Sprint beating Electrified by a length and a quarter with King Tommy three-quarters away in third.

Part-owner Gary Weston was ecstatic with the win.

“That's the best he's ever jumped,” said Gary. “Let's hope he keeps jumping like that from now on.”

West On Boonie, already the winner of The Westchase and runner-up in the WA-bred Championship, has now won nine races and $123,000 from 18 starts.

“He beat a very good field,” said Gary of the Chris Halse-trained youngster.

Chris' partner, Linda Britton, said the Tommy Shelby pair would now target the Young Stars which starts on November 11.

Greyhound racing newcomer, and Group 1 winning thoroughbred and harness trainer Justin Warwick, bred the litter and he owns King Tommy.

“It was just the second litter Justin reared and the first included the top stayer Couch Surfer,” said Linda.

“Couch Surfer's mother Deluxe Model has a just born 10-pup litter by Tommy Shelby and Justin has since bought four more straws to Tommy Shelby.”

West On Boonie's win continues the hugely successful partnership Gary Weston has had with Chris and Linda for the past 30 years.
